The House of Representatives has ordered a review and re-gazetting of controversial tax reform laws amid public concerns over discrepancies in the legislative process and official publications.

The laws affected include the Nigeria Tax Act 2025, Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025, Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2025, and Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act 2025.

House Spokesman Rep. Akin Rotimi said in a statement on Friday that a seven-member Ad Hoc Committee was set up to work with National Assembly committees to reconstruct the sequence of events around the passage, presidential assent, and gazetting of the laws.

“The review is administrative and aims to accurately reflect the decisions of the National Assembly,” Rotimi said.

“It does not imply any defect in the legislature’s authority nor prejudice the actions of any other arm of government.”

The House emphasized its commitment to constitutionalism, separation of powers, and the rule of law, promising to address any procedural refinements as required by law.

The statement also called on the public to avoid speculation while the process is ongoing, assuring transparency and accountability.
