The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anthony Okon Placid, as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
Placid replaces Benjamin Hundeyin, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the outgoing police spokesperson.
Born in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Placid joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1996 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and was commissioned in 1998.
He holds degrees from the University of Uyo and the University of Jos, and also studied Law at the National Open University of Nigeria.
The new police spokesman has served in several roles, including Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, Chief of Training for the African Union Mission in Sudan, and Head of Training and Development for the United Nations Mission in Darfur.
He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and a graduate of the Senior Executive Course of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.
