The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued an official notice for the upcoming Anambra governorship election, scheduled to take place on November 8, 2025.

The notice was made public on Sunday by Mrs Ugomma Lechukwu, the INEC Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, during a press briefing in Awka.

According to Lechukwu, the notice is in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended).

She stated that voting will commence at 8:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. on election day. Voters are expected to cast their votes at the polling units where they were originally registered.

Only individuals whose names appear on the voter register and who possess a valid voter’s card will be allowed to participate in the election.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 16 candidates will be contesting in the election. Of these, two are female, while the remaining 14 are male.

The race is expected to intensify in the coming weeks as political parties ramp up their campaigns across the state.
