The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has published the results for the mop-up examination conducted on Saturday, June 28.
Results were released for 11,161 participants out of 96,838 candidates scheduled for the exam. JAMB noted that candidates unable to access their results have not complied with the required process of texting "UTMERESULT" to 55019/66019 using the phone number they registered with.
In a significant crackdown, the Nigeria Police Force, with the aid of the National Cybercrime Centre, apprehended five leaders of a syndicate fabricating JAMB admission letters for a fee. This follows an investigation initiated after a joint press conference by JAMB and the police on April 13, 2024.
The suspects are currently facing prosecution in Abuja. JAMB said the syndicate's operation affected 17,417 candidates. Of these, 6,903 candidates corrected minor discrepancies, while 10,514 were referred to police investigation offices. Among them, 5,669 procured fake letters, and 4,832 attempted to bypass the admission process through the syndicate.
Thirteen candidates were flagged for various discrepancies, with representation from institutions such as Bayero University, Kano, and Enugu State University of Science and Technology. JAMB's management decided that the candidates should rectify their issues and print new admission letters.
Additionally, 1,532 candidates, whose institutions processed their admissions despite initial discrepancies, were warned. However, 3,300 candidates remain under investigation for seeking illegitimate admissions.
