The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.

This decision was reached at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held on Tuesday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja. According to JAMB, the following benchmarks were agreed upon by stakeholders, including heads of tertiary institutions:

  • Universities – 150

  • Colleges of Nursing Sciences – 140

  • Polytechnics and Colleges of Education – 100

  • Colleges of Agriculture – 100

The announcement was confirmed via JAMB’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, emphasizing that these scores represent the minimum admissible marks institutions can use in their admissions processes for the next session.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has reinforced 16 years as the minimum age for candidates seeking entry into any tertiary institution across the country.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made this declaration at the same policy meeting, stating that the age policy will be strictly enforced through JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). However, flexibility will be granted to applicants who will turn 16 by August 31, 2025.
