The Kano State government has warned that it will take strict action against any health worker found marking children as vaccinated without administering the polio vaccine, describing the practice as “dangerous and unacceptable.”

The State Social Mobilisation Officer at the Kano State Primary Healthcare Management Board, Rabiu Ibrahim, said, “Finger marking without actual vaccination puts children at serious risk of contracting polio.”

He described the act as a serious offence that will not be tolerated, stressing that “measures are in place to ensure accountability during immunisation campaigns.”

According to him, independent supervisors have been deployed to monitor vaccination exercises and ensure all eligible children are properly immunised.

Ibrahim urged community members to report any cases of misconduct, noting that public cooperation is essential to the campaign's success.

He also called on parents and caregivers to make their children available for vaccination, emphasising that “the vaccine remains safe and vital in protecting children from polio and promoting a healthier society.”
