Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk has reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career after defeating her fellow countrywoman Elina Svitolina in a hard-fought quarter-final at Roland Garros.
Kostyuk came through in three sets, winning 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 to seal a historic breakthrough in Paris.
The 23-year-old becomes the first Ukrainian woman in the Open Era to reach the semi-finals of the French Open.
She will now face Russia’s Mirra Andreeva in the last four, in what will be their third meeting this year.
Kostyuk holds the advantage heading into the clash, having already defeated Andreeva twice in 2026, including in the Madrid Open final.

Her run in Paris has been built on consistency and resilience, extending an impressive winning streak on clay as she continues to deliver under pressure.
Kostyuk’s progress comes amid a wave of upsets at this year’s tournament, with several top seeds and former champions already eliminated.
Now, with history already made and momentum firmly on her side, the Ukrainian is just one win away from reaching her first Grand Slam final.
