As campaign season takes off for the 2023 General Election, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has assured residents of Alimosho Local Government Area of his commitment to creating a “New Lagos.”

He was speaking at the flag-off of his campaign on Isheri Road where he said his decision to start from Lagos’ largest local government was to “highlight” the needs of Lagosians.

“Lagos is more than Ikeja to Lekki. This is Lagos and we need to make the people feel the presence of the government.

“A government that cares for them, a government that does not want them to be dealing with floods when it’s rainy season and not have a road,” he said.

Rhodes-Vivour reeled out some of the programmes that he would be embarking on if elected.

“We have done health insurance that we are going to be giving out to people that are over 40, 50 years old that will allow them to be able to get treatment in hospitals or from the chemist.

“We are also going to be doing empowerment programmes so that people can build more skills and make them more employable and even be able to earn a lot more money.”

He reiterated that the Labour Party does not believe in “vote buying” but rather said it is made of people who “believe in lifting people up so that they can lift others up as well.”
