The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority says it will soon begin compensation for tenants affected by land acquisition for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line depot at Okokomaiko.

The announcement followed a stakeholder meeting held at the palace of the Oniba of Iba Kingdom, Oba Sulaimon Raji Adeshina, where LAMATA officials met with traditional leaders and affected residents.

During the session, officials explained the scope of the depot project and outlined the procedures required for tenants to access compensation.

Affected residents were told to present their Project Affected Persons cards issued during the earlier enumeration exercise, tenancy rent receipts from landlords, recent passport photographs, and valid identification documents.

LAMATA said the compensation exercise will begin next week and run from Wednesday to Friday.

The authority said the process is designed to ensure transparency, fairness and timely payment to affected tenants.

Addressing the gathering, the Oniba of Iba Kingdom urged residents to cooperate with the Lagos State Government to ensure the successful delivery of the rail project.

He also encouraged those with complaints or special appeals to channel them through the palace for onward communication to LAMATA and the state government.

Officials said the Blue Line depot forms a key part of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit network and will support improved public transportation and economic activity along the corridor.
