Electricity supply has been restored to the national grid after several hours of nationwide outage following the system collapse recorded on Monday afternoon.

Latest figures released by the Nigerian National Power Grid at 6:23 pm showed that power had returned to the system, with a total load of 505 Megawatts distributed across several electricity distribution companies.

Ibadan, Ikeja, Enugu, Kaduna, Kano, Eko, Abuja, Jos, Benin, and Yola distribution companies were all receiving varying levels of supply at the time of the update.

However, Port Harcourt DisCo was still without power, indicating that restoration remains ongoing.

The collapse earlier in the day plunged large parts of the country into darkness, with power supply dropping to near zero across most distribution networks.

Monday’s incident represents the fourth major national grid collapse recorded in 2025, highlighting persistent challenges within Nigeria’s power transmission system.

Power sector officials say recovery efforts are continuing as operators work to stabilise the grid and improve supply nationwide.
