Sen. Ned Nwoko, has denied claims by his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, that he married her when she was 17 years old, labeling the allegations as "false, misleading, and malicious."
Nwoko, 65, issued a statement across his social media channels, arguing that the reports were an attempt to tarnish his image amid ongoing marital issues with the Nollywood star.
“It has come to my attention that false claims are being circulated by Regina, suggesting that I married her when she was 17 years old. These claims are entirely untrue and misleading".
He asserted that when they first met, Regina told him she was 21 years old and presented her Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter’s card, which shows her date of birth as Oct. 10, 1998, as proof.

“For clarity, during my first meeting with Regina, I asked her age, and she told me she was 21 years old,” Nwoko stated. “According to all verifiable records, our marriage took place six years ago, which means Regina is 27 years old today. Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be accepted by the public.”
The lawmaker further alleged that the Regina's claims were influenced by her “current mental condition,” stating that she had started but failed to complete rehabilitation for drug addiction.
This public exchange follows the actress’s recent admission to using illicit substances, where she alleged her estranged husband introduced her to drugs for his "sexual satisfaction." Nwoko has denied that accusation, insisting it was Daniels’ brother who exposed her to drugs and frustrated rehabilitation efforts.
The escalating dispute has involved weeks of social media exchanges over alleged domestic violence, which Nwoko has consistently denied, attributing Daniels’ behavior to substance abuse.
