The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Nigeria is working with the United States in joint security operations that have led to “precision hits” on terrorist targets in North-West Nigeria.

The ministry confirmed the airstrikes followed intelligence sharing and strategic coordination between both countries.

The statement said the cooperation is “consistent with international law, mutual respect for sovereignty, and shared commitments to regional and global security.”

It added that all actions are guided by the need to protect civilians and national unity.

“Counter-terrorism efforts are aimed at safeguarding the rights and dignity of all citizens, irrespective of faith or ethnicity,” the ministry said, stressing that violence against Christians, Muslims, or any community “remains an affront to Nigeria’s values.”

US President Donald Trump also said the United States had launched “powerful and deadly” strikes on Islamic State targets in north-western Nigeria, describing them as part of efforts to curb extremist attacks.

The Federal Government said it will continue working with international partners to disrupt terrorist networks, funding, and cross-border threats, while strengthening its own security and intelligence agencies.

The ministry pledged to keep the public informed through official channels as cooperation continues.
