Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production dropped to an average of 1.581 million barrels per day (bpd) in September 2025, according to new figures from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Data released by the NUPRC’s Head of Media and Strategic Communication, Eniola Akinkuotu, showed that September’s figure comprised 1.39 million bpd of crude oil and 191,373 bpd of condensates — a 3.09 per cent decrease from the 1.63 million bpd recorded in August.

Despite the setback, Nigeria achieved 93 percent of its OPEC crude production quota of 1.5 million bpd for the month.

In a statement on Saturday, the NUPRC blamed the decline on the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria's (PENGASSAN) three-day strike, which forced several production and export facilities to shut down.

Scheduled turnaround maintenance at two key facilities also contributed to the drop.

The report noted that total production for September stood at 47.43 million barrels.

Peak output during the month hit 1.81 million bpd, while the lowest daily production was 1.35 million bpd.

Among Nigeria’s top production streams, Forcados Blend led with 15.86 per cent of total output, followed by Bonny Light (13.31 per cent), Qua Iboe (9.88 per cent), Escravos Light (8.96 per cent), Bonga (6.83 per cent), Agbami Condensate (4.94 per cent), Erha (4.55 per cent), and Amenam Blend (4.2 per cent).

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to stabilising production levels and ensuring Nigeria meets its OPEC obligations despite ongoing challenges in the oil and gas sector.
