The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across most parts of the country from Friday through Sunday, with warnings of possible flooding in some southern states.
In its three-day outlook released Thursday in Abuja, NiMet said isolated thunderstorms and rains will affect states in the northwest and northeast, while central states, including the Federal Capital Territory, could see thunderstorms and moderate rain later in the day.
Southern states, including Lagos, Ogun, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River, may experience flooding as intermittent rainfall persists.
NiMet also advised farmers to delay fertilizer and pesticide application ahead of heavy rains and urged residents to fasten loose objects, disconnect electrical appliances, and avoid sheltering under trees during storms.
Airline operators were told to obtain airport-specific weather reports for flight planning.
