The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has opened a probe into an Arik Air flight that made an emergency diversion after an engine issue.

The Boeing 737 was flying from Lagos to Port Harcourt on Wednesday, February 11, when the crew noticed abnormal engine readings while cruising.

According to the bureau, the pilots shut down the affected engine as a safety precaution and diverted the aircraft to Benin Airport, where it landed safely without any injuries.

The NSIB says investigations are now underway and a preliminary report is expected within 30 days, in line with international aviation standards.
