The Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusivity through sports as preparations intensify for the 3rd National Para Games.

Olopade gave the assurance while speaking on the forthcoming event, noting that the games are designed to promote the participation and development of athletes with disabilities across the country.

According to him, the initiative reflects the government’s determination to ensure that persons with disabilities are fully integrated into the nation’s sporting ecosystem.

He said the National Para Games would provide a vital platform for athletes with disabilities to showcase their talents and compete at a high level.

“The National Para Games represent more than just a sporting event; they are a celebration of resilience, talent and the limitless potential of our para-athletes,” Olopade said.

He added that the commission remained committed to strengthening the development of para-sports in Nigeria and providing opportunities for athletes with disabilities to excel.

“Our commitment is to ensure that every Nigerian, regardless of physical ability, has the opportunity to participate in sports and reach their full potential,” he stated.

Olopade also stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in organising the event, noting that the games would bring together athletes, officials and sports administrators from across the country.

The 3rd National Para Games is scheduled to hold from March 26 to April 3, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, with several para-sport events expected to feature athletes representing states across the federation.
