Nigerian fintech company Paystack has terminated the employment of its Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, following public allegations that he engaged in inappropriate conduct with a junior employee.

Olubi announced the development in a blog post published on Saturday, Nov 23, 2025, stating that he was dismissed before an ongoing investigation reached any conclusion.

The controversy erupted in mid-November after a social media post accusing Olubi of abusive behaviour gained traction, prompting users to resurface a series of explicit tweets he wrote between 2009 and 2013. Paystack had confirmed at the time that Olubi was suspended and that a formal review, expected to include an independent investigator, was underway.

In his blog post, Olubi said he was neither invited to a meeting nor given an opportunity to respond to the allegations before his contract was terminated. He described the decision as inconsistent with the terms of his suspension and the company’s internal processes. His legal team, he said, is now reviewing the circumstances surrounding the dismissal.

The resurfaced posts ignited intense public scrutiny for Paystack, which was acquired by Stripe in 2020 in one of Africa’s most significant tech exits.

Paystack has not issued a new public statement since Olubi’s blog post, and Stripe has not commented on the matter.
