The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested 12 individuals in connection with the deadly robbery that claimed the life of Arise TV anchor Somtochukwu “Sommie” Maduagwu.

According to the police, operatives from the Scorpion Squad, working with intelligence support from Giga Forensics, traced leads across multiple locations before detaining the suspects.

Among those held are Shamsudeen Hassan, Hassan Isah, Abubakar Alkamu, Sani Sirajo, and others.

Interrogations revealed Hassan admitted to firing the security guard, Barnabas Danlami, who tried to resist their break-in, while Sirajo claimed he attempted to stop Ms. Maduagwu from falling off the building but was unable to due to her weight.

Recovered items from the suspects include a fabricated AK-47 rifle, 36 rounds of live ammunition, one locally made pistol, two cartridges, sharp knives, mobile phones, torchlights, and a cutlass.

Police say that on October 8, operatives intercepted some gang members as they were reportedly en route to another planned robbery in Maitama, Abuja. All suspects allegedly confessed to the crimes, and further investigations are ongoing to apprehend remaining members.
