Police Rescue Kidnapped Victims, Arrest Eight Suspects in Four States

The police have rescued two kidnapped victims, Godday Irieude and Wisdom Emeka, from a hideout in the Ewatto area of Edo State.

The police forced the kidnappers to flee during a fierce gun battle, leaving the victims unharmed. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, noted in a press statement that this happened on June 26.

In Delta State, police acting on credible intelligence, raided a residence in Mosogar, arresting two suspected cultists, Koko Josh (29) and Asomugha Clinton (27). The operation resulted in the seizure of a fabricated Beretta pistol, locally made guns, live ammunition, and other items. Further investigations led to the arrest of two more suspects linked to the Aiye Confraternity.

In a separate Delta State operation, Ekene Chroma (36) and Okafor Jonathan (18) were apprehended with illegal firearms and ammunition in Okpanam. Police investigations revealed their involvement in illegal arms dealing.

Vehicle Theft and Arms Recovery in Katsina and Adamawa

In Katsina State, the Force Intelligence Department's Intelligence Response Team arrested Yunusa Ishaku (40) for his role in a vehicle theft ring operating across Nigeria. Ishaku confessed to stealing vehicles in cities like Abuja and Jos, with plans to sell them in Niger Republic. Additional stolen vehicles were located in Zamfara and Bauchi States.

In Adamawa State, Alhaji Iya Bima (52) was arrested with an AK-47 rifle and ammunition. Further interrogation led to the recovery of additional weapons.

All the suspects will face legal proceedings upon the conclusion of investigations.
