The Nigeria Police Force says the regulation on tinted vehicle glass remains in place and has not been declared unlawful by any final court order.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Police said it will continue to respect the judiciary and comply with valid court directives, but noted that ongoing litigation does not stop it from performing its lawful duties unless a court expressly rules otherwise.
The Force says regulating tinted glass is a security issue linked to kidnapping, robbery, and other crimes, and any enforcement will follow due process and human-rights standards.
The Police denied claims that it ordered immediate enforcement, saying a recent internal communication was only for planning and public clarity.
The Inspector-General of Police also warned officers against extortion or abuse and promised disciplinary action for misconduct.
The statement added that the Police will continue to engage stakeholders including the Nigerian Bar Association while protecting public safety.
