The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has warned activist Omoyele Sowore and others against mobilising protests over the recent demolitions in the state.
Jimoh issued the warning while speaking with journalists at the Iyana-Oworo end of the Third Mainland Bridge on Monday.
He said the police had deployed officers across Lagos to prevent any demonstrations that could disrupt public order.
The Commissioner stated that the command would not tolerate any attempt to block highways or disturb the peace in the state.
He said officers had been stationed at strategic locations including the Third Mainland Bridge, Ojota, Maryland, Gbagada, Bariga, Gani Fawehinmi Park, Lekki Toll Gate, and other key areas.
Jimoh noted that while the Constitution guarantees freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, protests must follow due process and must not infringe on the rights of others.
He also accused some individuals of trying to exploit the situation for political or criminal purposes, warning that the police would not allow anyone to use the guise of protest to cause unrest.
