Coach Jorge Jesus confirmed the development ahead of Al Nassr’s league game against Neom Sports Club.
The 41 year old forward picked up the injury during Al Nassr’s 3 1 win over Al Fayha last weekend.
Jesus says tests later showed the injury is more serious than first thought.
According to him, Ronaldo will undergo treatment in Spain with his personal physiotherapist while focusing on rest and recovery.
Al Nassr has not given a timeline for his return.
The Portugal captain is hoping to regain fitness before international friendlies later this month against Mexico and the United States.
Ronaldo’s absence could be a blow for Al Nassr, who currently lead the Saudi Pro League by two points ahead of Al Ahli.
