The Senate became rowdy on Tuesday during the screening of Nasir El-Rufai for a ministerial appointment.

It started when Senator Sunday Karimi (APC, Kogi West) submitted a petition, bothering on security, coerciveness, and unity, against the nominee.

The Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, who was presiding over the screening received the petition, but the Senate President Godswill Akpabio soon returned to his seat and cautioned against the Senate debating security matters.

In his question to the nominee, Senator Abdulaziz Yari (APC, Zamfara Central) asked El-Rufai three questions on the power sector, while Senators Danjuma Goje and Sani Musa said the former Kaduna State governor should be asked to take a bow and go.

Senators Goje and Musa argued that former governors Nyesom Wike and Abubakar Badaru were asked to bow and go during their screening on Monday.

They wanted El-Rufai to be accorded the same courtesy as a former governor.

But their argument did not stand as the former governor chose to respond to some of the questions he was asked.
