The Senate has passed a supplementary budget of N819 billion for the 2022 fiscal year.

The Appropriation Bill was passed Wednesday after the Senate extended the implementation of the 2022 budget till March 31, 2023.

The President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, had earlier read President Muhammadu Buhari’s letter seeking the extension.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajamiabila, also read the president’s letter in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly seeking an extension of the budget year.

The National Assembly had earlier passed a revised budget of N17.31tn for the fiscal year 2022.

On Wednesday last week, President Buhari wrote the Assembly to approve a supplementary budget of N819bn.

He said it was to be used to cushion the impact of floods in parts of Nigeria and complete roads.
