Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, says his campaign for improved security in the South West is directed at criminal elements and not any ethnic group.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, Igboho said Nigerians across religious, political and ethnic divides must work with security agencies to tackle kidnapping, killings, banditry and other violent crimes.

The statement followed calls by the Concerned Fulani People of Nigeria, which urged President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to caution him over alleged inflammatory remarks, an allegation he described as baseless and misleading.

Igboho maintained that he has never declared war against any ethnic nationality, insisting that criminals should be identified, arrested and prosecuted regardless of their background.

He also commended the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Services and other security chiefs for ongoing operations against criminal networks in the South West and other parts of the country.

According to him, while he is willing to support security agencies, ensuring public safety is a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of government and stakeholders.

He urged those criticising him to instead support stronger measures aimed at protecting lives and restoring peace in affected communities.
