The Transmission Company of Nigeria says it has begun construction of a new 330 kilovolt Turn In Turn Out transmission line at the Ihovbor Work Centre.

In a statement, the company said the project involves the stringing of the Ihovbor to Ajaokuta 330kV transmission line.

TCN said construction started on February 27, 2026 and is expected to be completed by March 30.

According to the company, the project will boost its capacity to evacuate more electricity from the Azura Power Plant and plants under the National Integrated Power Project to transmission substations across the national grid.

The company added that the development will improve transmission channels, provide additional capacity and strengthen the reliability of bulk power supply.

TCN said the new lines will also enhance the capacity of the Ihovbor Transmission Substation when completed.

The project is part of efforts to expand Nigeria’s transmission network and improve power delivery across the country.
