President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Samson Adamu on his appointment as Acting General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football.

In a statement by his aide Bayo Onanuga, the president described the development as a proud moment for Nigeria and the West African region.

Tinubu noted that Adamu’s appointment marks the first time a Nigerian is occupying the top administrative role in CAF since its establishment.

Adamu, who previously served as CAF Director of Tournaments and Events, takes over in an acting capacity following the exit of Veron Mosengo-Omba.

The president praised Adamu’s professionalism and contributions to African football, expressing confidence in his ability to strengthen the organisation.

He also assured him of Nigeria’s support in advancing football development across the continent.
