President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left Lagos for Europe, where he will spend a brief private stay before proceeding on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates.

The trip was confirmed in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said the journey combines the President’s end of year break with key diplomatic engagements.

After his stay in Europe, President Tinubu is expected to travel to Abu Dhabi at the invitation of the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

While in Abu Dhabi, the President will attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit, scheduled to begin in early January. The event is one of the world’s major platforms for discussions on climate action and sustainable development.

Global leaders, policymakers, investors, and industry experts are expected to take part in the summit, which focuses on driving innovation and financing sustainable projects, especially in developing countries.

The 2026 edition will also highlight inclusive economic growth, green infrastructure, and human capital development as countries respond to climate and energy challenges.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria shortly after the summit concludes in mid January.
