President Bola Tinubu has directed key economic officials to develop measures aimed at reducing the impact of the ongoing Middle East crisis on Nigerians.

The directive was given on Friday during a civic reception in Yenagoa, where the president inaugurated projects executed by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.

According to a statement signed by Presidential Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu tasked the Ministries of Finance and Budget, alongside the Head of Service, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, to explore ways of easing economic pressure on citizens.

The president acknowledged that the global crisis has placed significant strain on Nigeria’s economy, particularly through rising fuel prices.

“Yes, I hear you from various angles of the economy, the fuel prices are biting hard, but we must also reflect on global realities,” Tinubu said.

He assured Nigerians that his administration would work closely with relevant ministries to introduce measures to cushion the hardship.

“This is a government that cares, we will look at the numbers with the Ministry of Finance and Budget to ease the burden,” he added.

Tinubu also reaffirmed the commitment of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to improving citizens’ welfare through impactful governance.

“People deserve to see governance translated into roads, bridges, power, jobs and real opportunities that affect lives,” he said.

Speaking on the projects inaugurated at the event, the president commended Governor Douye Diri, saying they align with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He inaugurated a 60-megawatt gas-fired power plant in Elebele, the 630-metre Angiama–Oporoma Bridge, and a new road in Yenagoa.

Tinubu noted that collaboration between the federal and state governments remains key to accelerating development and delivering tangible benefits to citizens.

He also reiterated his administration’s resolve to achieve energy sufficiency, referencing ongoing efforts to strengthen independent power initiatives.
