Lagos indigenous groups have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027, declaring him the most suitable candidate ahead of the next general elections.

The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after a summit convened by the Lagos State Prominent Indigenes Forum (LASPI) in Surulere.

The gathering, themed “Promoting Greater Participation of Lagos State Indigenes in Governance and Politics,” brought together traditional leaders, community stakeholders and associations from the five IBILE divisions.

Convener Chief Adesunbo Onitiri and other signatories said the groups “strongly support” Tinubu’s continued leadership, adding, “There is no other candidate more qualified than our own.”

The summit, chaired by Michael Olawale-Cole and attended by elder statesman Tajudeen Olusi, also focused on boosting indigenous participation in governance.

Participants urged indigenes to take active roles in politics, deepen youth engagement, and strengthen civic education.

They also called for greater coordination among indigenous groups, preservation of cultural values, and the use of digital platforms to expand political awareness.

The communiqué said unity and sustained participation would determine the future influence of Lagos indigenes, while recommending regular stakeholder engagements.

The endorsement signals early political alignment as preparations gradually builds toward the 2027 presidential election.
