Donald Trump has filed a $15 billion defamation and libel lawsuit against The New York Times, four of its reporters, and publisher Penguin Random House.

The complaint, submitted in Florida’s Middle District Court, centers on several articles—including a pre-2024 presidential election editorial—and a book titled Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father's Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success.

Trump alleges that these publications knowingly made false statements that damaged his reputation and caused financial losses, particularly to his media venture, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG).

In his lawsuit, Trump contends that the reporting misrepresented his actions, undermined his political ideology (notably the MAGA and America First movements), and that the defendants acted with “actual malice.”

The filing points to a steep decline in TMTG stock as one example of economic harm.

This lawsuit follows other legal actions by Trump this year targeting media outlets. The New York Times and Penguin Random House have not yet issued a response.
