A caller has proposed strategies to address the growing security concerns at Rivers State University (RSU), stressing that the perpetrators behind the recent attacks are known within the local community.
Students at RSU had raised alarms over a series of repeated attacks on female hostels. In 2023, similar incidents occurred in Hostels C, D, and the NDDC Hostel, sparking campus protests. Some students reported instances of rape, while others had their gadgets and valuables stolen. As a result of the attacks, Governor Siminalayi Fubara visited the area to assess the situation.
Speaking on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, the caller recommended installing solar streetlights around the campus and implementing stricter security checks at the school's entry points, including those for vehicles. He also suggested profiling students with known criminal records and enforcing appropriate sanctions for those involved in illicit activities.
