The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has assured Lagos residents of improved security and stronger policing across the state.

Jimoh gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja.

According to a statement by Zone 2 Police Command spokesperson Gbenga Afolayan, the AIG thanked the governor for his “continuous support and immense assistance to the Police,” especially in logistics, operations and welfare support.

Jimoh also highlighted achievements recorded within Zone 2, which covers Lagos and Ogun states. He said the command has introduced reforms aimed at improving policing and service delivery.

The AIG announced a “complete ban of transfer of cases from the State Commands to the Zone,” describing it as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency.

He also revealed that the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, approved the creation of seven new police divisional headquarters in Lagos following his recommendation while serving as Lagos commissioner of police.

Jimoh said the police remain committed to “maintaining law and order, protection of lives and property and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents.”

Responding, Sanwo-Olu described the visit as “a homecoming” because of Jimoh’s previous role in Lagos.

The governor praised the police reforms and said the additional divisional headquarters would “bring policing closer to the people.”

He also promised the continued support of the Lagos State Government toward “safer communities and improved security architecture across the state.”
