British Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has been ranked the most popular party leader in the United Kingdom, according to a new opinion poll, despite all major politicians recording negative approval ratings.

The survey, conducted by research group More in Common, placed Badenoch ahead of Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other party leaders.

She recorded a rating of about minus nine, while Starmer trailed far behind at around minus 42, the report said.

Other political figures also scored poorly.

Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey ranked second with about minus 11, while Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and Green Party co-leader Zack Polanski were tied further down.

The poll highlights a wider problem in British politics, where public trust in leaders remains low.

Even though Badenoch leads the rankings, her score is still negative, showing that many voters remain dissatisfied.

British press say Badenoch’s improved position may be linked to her recent performances in Parliament, where she has strongly challenged the government on economic issues and other controversies.

However, the poll also suggests that personal popularity may not directly translate into support for a political party.

Surveys show the Conservative Party continues to struggle in national polls despite Badenoch’s rise.

Badenoch, who became leader of the Conservative Party in November 2024, is the first Black leader of a major UK political party and has promised to “renew” her party and prepare it for government.

The findings come as political parties prepare for the upcoming local elections, seen as a key test of public opinion.
