Gunmen have abducted a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly from his home, triggering a full security operation to secure his release.

The victim, identified as Musa Moruf, was taken on Wednesday from his residence in Ibiade, Ogun State, according to police and local sources.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the abduction and said investigations are ongoing. Officers say they are tracking the kidnappers and working to rescue the former lawmaker safely.

Police added that tactical teams have been deployed, patrols intensified, and checkpoints mounted on major routes leading out of the area.

Security agencies are also working with local vigilantes and community leaders to gather intelligence and trace the suspects.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and report any useful information to the nearest police station. Authorities also warned against spreading unverified videos or rumours that could disrupt the investigation.

Neighbours described the former lawmaker as a well-known figure in the community and said the incident has left residents shocked.

The police say efforts are ongoing and promised to provide updates as the search continues.
