The Nigerian government has concluded its case in the terrorism trial against Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

On Thursday, the prosecution, led by the Director of Public Prosecutions, wrapped up its presentation after calling several witnesses to testify against Kanu, who faces charges related to terrorism and treasonable felony.

Five witnesses, including an operative from the Department of State Services (DSS), testified about Kanu's alleged incitement activities during the #EndSARS protests.

The operative, identified as EEE for security reasons, testified that at least 164 police stations and nine offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were destroyed as a result of Kanu's inciting remarks.

He further explained that he was tasked with leading a team of officers from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and DSS, along with photographers and other investigators, to document the criminal activities that occurred during the #EndSARS movement between 2020 and 2021.

The charges against Kanu stem from his activities and statements advocating for the secession of a region in southeastern Nigeria.

Justice James Omotosho, presiding over the case, adjourned proceedings until July 18.

During the next phase, Kanu's defense team, led by Kanu Agabi (SAN), is expected to file a no-case submission, arguing that the prosecution's evidence does not directly implicate Kanu in the alleged offenses.
