The Middle East conflict widened further on Saturday as Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched their first missile strike on Israel, while the United Arab Emirates reported intercepting a new wave of Iranian missiles and drones.

The Iran-backed Houthis confirmed the attack, saying they fired ballistic missiles at what they described as “sensitive Israeli military sites.”

Their spokesperson said the operation was in support of Iran and allied groups, warning that strikes would continue until “aggression… ceases.”

Israel’s military said it successfully intercepted the missile, with no immediate casualties reported.

The strike marks the Houthis’ first direct involvement in the ongoing war, opening a new front in an already volatile regional conflict.

At the same time, the UAE said its air defence systems intercepted multiple Iranian projectiles targeting its territory.

Authorities confirmed that at least 20 missiles and 37 drones were neutralised in the latest barrage, even as falling debris caused damage and injuries in some areas.

Officials said emergency teams quickly contained fires triggered by debris, while those injured suffered mostly minor to moderate wounds.

The latest developments highlight a dangerous escalation, with Iran continuing strikes across the region in response to U.S. and Israeli attacks on its territory.

Worries over the growing involvement of proxy groups like the Houthis are increasing, as this could further destabilise key shipping routes and energy supplies.

With multiple fronts now active, fears are rising that the conflict could spiral into a broader regional war with global economic consequences.
