The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has arrested 132 suspects and recovered 220 kilograms of illegal drugs during a two-week operation in Abuja and nearby areas.
The agency said the raids took place between 11th and 25th of April 2026, targeting drug hotspots across the Federal Capital Territory.
Areas affected include Gwarinpa, Kubwa, Wuse, Garki, Jabi, and parts of Suleja.
According to the NDLEA, the operation was carried out after weeks of intelligence gathering.

It said the raids were aimed at dismantling “illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city.”
Recovered drugs include 214.79 kilograms of cannabis, as well as smaller amounts of cocaine, tramadol, methamphetamine, and other substances.
The agency said its officers faced resistance in some locations.
“Despite the stiff resistance encountered by operatives at the Durumi Area 1 and Suleja market axes, the superior strength and professionalism of the NDLEA officers effectively subdued the syndicates,” it said, adding that no casualties were recorded.
NDLEA Director of Operations and General Investigation, Ahmed Sule Ningi, praised the officers involved.
He commended their “resilience, coordination, and professionalism” and called for continued pressure on drug networks.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), also praised the operation.
He said the officers showed strong commitment to “cleaning up the capital city and its environs.”
Marwa directed that the strategy be extended to other parts of the country, saying it will help “sustain the pressure on drug cartels” and reduce both supply and demand nationwide.
