Nicki Minaj is set to speak at a special United Nations event on Tuesday November 18 2025. The rapper is using her huge global reach to spotlight reported attacks on Christians in Nigeria.
The event will hold in New York and is being organized with advisers close to President Donald Trump. It follows Minaj’s recent public support for the administration’s renewed attention on religious violence in Nigeria.
The meeting aims to draw fresh international focus to the human rights concerns in the country. Nigeria has faced years of deadly attacks linked to Boko Haram, armed bandits and clashes between herders and farming communities. Many of these incidents are often framed as having religious undertones.
Minaj confirmed her attendance after praising a post by the US President on X.
“I am so grateful to be entrusted with an opportunity of this magnitude,” she wrote. She added that she and her fanbase, The Barbz, will not stay silent “in the face of injustice.”
She is expected to appear alongside Michael Waltz, the US Ambassador to the UN. Waltz applauded her involvement and said she is helping spotlight the suffering of Christian communities across Nigeria.
The Nigerian government has pushed back on claims of religious targeting. Officials insist the violence is driven by criminal gangs, competition for land and long standing local conflicts, not a campaign against one faith.
Minaj’s move has drawn praise from some activists and conservative groups. It has also sparked debate among her fans, with many questioning her political alignment and the complexity of Nigeria’s security challenges.
