The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has concluded a nationwide specialized training program for 192 officers aimed at enhancing their cybercrime-fighting capabilities.

The training, which ran from July 9 to August 15, focused on the Athena Forensic Intelligence Solution (AFIS) and included officers from all 36 state commands and the Federal Capital Territory.

The program, a collaboration between the NPF and Radio Tactics Group Limited, equipped the officers with skills in digital forensics, including:

  • Extracting data from SIM cards, GPS devices, and mobile devices.

  • Processing communication and location data for intelligence gathering.

  • Biometric capture and the use of forensic hotlists.

The training is expected to improve the force's ability to respond to and investigate complex cybercrimes.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, reiterated the force's commitment to embracing modern and digital approaches to combat cybercrime, emphasizing continuous training to meet global best practices.
