Two people have died in a crash along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, with officials blaming reckless driving and excessive speed for the accident.

The crash occurred in the Isara-Remo area, along the Lagos-bound section of the highway.

According to a traffic report by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, the victims were occupants of a Suzuki bus involved in the accident.

The report said the vehicle crashed into a broken-down truck on the road.

“A lone fatal road traffic accident occurred at the Isara-Remo/Erimobi Bridge area, inbound Lagos,” the agency said.

“From our investigation, we believe there was a broken-down vehicle on the road, which the Suzuki bus hit from the rear as a result of excessive speeding.”

Officials confirmed that both occupants of the vehicle died in the crash.

The bodies of the victims were taken to the State General Hospital in Isara-Remo, while the damaged vehicle was towed to a police station for further investigation.

TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi expressed sympathy to the families of the victims and warned motorists to avoid speeding.
