The political crisis in Rivers State took a new turn as two more members of the House of Assembly officially withdrew their support for the plan to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara from office.

The lawmakers, Barile Nwakoh of Khana Constituency I, and Emilia Amadi of Obio/Akpor Constituency II, who were previously part of a group of 27 members loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, announced that they are no longer interested in the "impeachment" move.

The lawmakers stated that they decided to withdraw to allow peace to reign in the state.

They noted that the constant fighting between different political groups was slowing down development and making life difficult for the people of Rivers State.

"We want to focus on making laws that help our people rather than fighting political wars," one of the lawmakers mentioned in a statement.

For several months, the Rivers State House of Assembly has been split into two factions.

This split led to several court cases and even the burning of the House of Assembly complex last year.

By withdrawing their support, these two lawmakers have made it harder for the pro-Wike group to get the "two-thirds majority" vote needed to legally remove the Governor.

Governor Fubara has consistently called for peace, urging all leaders to work together for the progress of the state.
