Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has suffered a fractured arm during UEFA Champions League action between Galatasaray and Liverpool, dealing a major blow to both club and country.

Osimhen picked up the injury in the first half of the Round of 16 second-leg match at Anfield on 18th March 2026.

According to his club, “our player Victor Osimhen… suffered a blow to his arm in the first half” and was later withdrawn at halftime after checks showed a possible fracture.

The club added that further hospital tests confirmed “a fracture in his right forearm, and a cast was applied,” with a decision on possible surgery to be made “in the coming days.”

Despite trying to continue, the Super Eagles forward “was not allowed to play in the second half due to the risk of a fracture,” highlighting the seriousness of the injury.

The match itself ended in disappointment for Galatasaray.

Liverpool won 4-0 on the night, overturning a 1-0 first-leg deficit to advance 4-1 on aggregate to the quarterfinals.

Osimhen’s injury adds to Galatasaray’s woes, as teammate Noa Lang also suffered a serious hand injury in the same game.

Before the match, Osimhen had expressed confidence his team could “do some damage” at Anfield after winning the first leg in Turkey.

However, Liverpool dominated the return leg, ending Galatasaray’s European campaign.

The injury now raises concerns about Osimhen’s availability for upcoming matches, including international fixtures, as fans await further updates on whether surgery will be required.
