The youth wing of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has vowed to draw a battle line with the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, if he does not cease further “unlawful encroachment” of the Asokoro extension properties belonging to Nicholas Ukachukwu.

The acting national president of the group, Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, warned at the weekend when he visited the site of the contentious property, that Wike should not act as if his predecessors, who allocated the property to the developer, did so ignorantly.

Okpalaezeukwu called the minister to apologize to the Ukachukwu brothers for labeling them land grabbers.

He also asked Wike to pay adequate monetary compensation for the “malicious and unwarranted demolition” of properties.

"Our attention has been drawn to the very disturbing incident that happened at Asokoro extension Abuja where some agents of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), in Gestapo style, rolled out her bulldozers to demolish legitimate properties belonging to the Ukachukwu on the orders of the Hon Minister of FCT, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike,” Okpalaezeukwu said.

"Government is a continuum. Past FCT ministers were not ignorant of the law governing FCT land administration.

“Therefore, it is instructive to note that the Ukachukwu brothers are law-abiding citizens, with National Honours, who acquired their wealth through dint of hard work and unwavering commitment to excellence and have contributed immensely to peace, development and the overall wellbeing of the Federal Capital Territory.

"Interestingly, this land was validly acquired in the 90s and has a clear history of legitimacy.

“Contrary to the claims of FCT Authorities, that the land was allocated in error to Praco International Limited and the Ukachukwus, FCT Authorities must be reminded that Nigeria is governed by law and as such should desist from anything inimical to the peace, unity, and progress of this country.”

Okpalaezeukwu also appealed to President Tinubu to intervene and facilitate the release of IPOB, Nnamdi Kalu.

“As law-abiding citizens, we want to use this opportunity to call on Mr. President, to intervene in this matter, as a panacea for peace, equity, and justice.

"We most profoundly salute the courage and resilience of Mr. President- His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR,  Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for his Renewed Hope Agenda and tireless efforts in reshaping our economy for sustainable growth.

“in the same vein, We passionately appeal to Mr. President to graciously release our Brother Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to strengthen our hands in mobilizing support for him,” Okpalaezeukwu concluded.
