As inquests into the death of 12-year-old Dowen College student Sylvester Oromoni continue, the role of parents and teachers especially, in aiding and preventing bullying has been highlighted.

Speaking on Whaats Up Lagos, a caller says schools must rework their process of recruitment.

According to him, “tolerance” must also be as important a criteria as educational qualifications when employing teachers.

“Some teachers don’t have human feelings, they bully these children and say things even the parents haven’t said to their children before,” he lamented.

However, another caller charged parents to learn to “listen” to their children regardless of what they have to say.

Watch video to find out why handing positions of authority to students in schools could be a means to stopping bullying according to a caller.
