From "men are not supposed to cry" to "women are not meant to be tough", these "social constructs" have become cliché.

How has your family influenced your perspective on gender equality? How can gender equality be promoted in families? These are some questions the Tekes sought to provide answers to on the Family Talk segment of Whaats Up Lagos.

"If we break these stereotypes, we will be positive to one another irrespective of gender differences" Collins remarked.

For one caller who loved football and wanted to play the game growing up as a young lady, it was "hell."

She said, "I loved football. My mummy would say to me, do you know you are a girl? You will end up cooking."
