Ekiti State's Governor Biodun Oyebanji will remain in office until his tenure elapses.

This is because the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has upheld his victory in the June governorship election.

Oyebanji of the APC polled 187,057 votes to defeat his two closest challengers – Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Bisi Kolawole of the People’s Democratic Party.

Justice Wilfred Kpochi who chaired the tribunal ruled that Segun Oni's allegations of election rigging, vote trading, and procedural violations were unspecific and vague.

In addition, the tribunal rejected a request for disqualification of the deputy governorship candidate of the APC for alleged certificate forgery, stating that the issue was not brought up within the legal 21-day deadline and that raising new facts and arguments midway would violate the injunctions.
