The House of Representatives has called for the prosecution of the culprits involved in the killing of a two-year-old in Delta State.

The House asked the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to take over the case.

Ivan Omorhiakogbe died after he was allegedly hit by stray bullets fired by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) last Thursday.

The bullets wounded his sibling.

Honourable Unyime Idem, the lawmaker representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, said the circumstances that led to Ivan's death were regrettable.

A petition from the deceased's father, pleading for justice, was presented to the House by Honourable Kelechi Nwogu.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has called on the NDLEA and the police to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book.

Meanwhile, the NDLEA has promised to probe the issue.

“We’re in touch with the family to provide necessary assistance while we conclude our investigation of the incident," it said in a statement.

"We will like to assure the family and members of the public that we’ll get to the root of the case and take necessary action(s)," it added.
