The screening of Ministerial Nominee, Festus Keyamo, threw the Senate's plenary into a rowdy session on Monday in Abuja.

The lawmakers could not reach a middle ground on whether to go ahead with Keyamo's screening or not.

This was the result of a Point of Order raised by the Senator representing Abia Central, Darlington Nwokocha, who stressed that the nominee's screening should not take place.

Citing Section 88 (b) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, Senator Nwocha mentioned that Keyamo had refused to appear before the Senate in the last administration to explain how the N52billion appropriated for Nigerians was spent.

He reminded his colleagues that Keyamo refused to answer the formula used in sharing the N52 billion at N20,000 each for beneficiaries.

Though a motion was moved and seconded, the senators could not reach a conclusion forcing the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, to ask that they go into a closed-door session for further deliberations.
