Passengers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja have been left stranded following a protest at the airport on Thursday.

The unions initiated the protest at the entry and exit ways of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after they were stopped from entering the airport by the military.

Recall that on Wednesday, aviation unions directed their workers to withdraw services to all Owerri flights from all airports in Nigeria in line with the directive from organised labour.

The protest action, initiated by the NLC and TUC, is believed to be a response to the recent alleged attack on NLC president, Joe Ajaero, in Imo State.

The unions had declared nationwide industrial action starting Tuesday, November 14th, also due to the face-off with the Imo State Government.

The governor and the police have since denied any involvement.

Meanwhile, as a build-up to the governorship election in Imo State, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed a new commissioner of police to Imo State.

In a statement released on Thursday, Force spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced that CP Danjuma Aboki had been deployed as the new police commissioner in Imo State.
